Doris Cellar is a singer-songwriter from Astoria, Queens New York. Doris is better known as the bassist and harmonium player of indie-rock band Freelance Whales but continues to strive as a solo artist, writing and recording her own music at her home studio which she calls “The Cellar.” Doris’ style is broad and ranges from quirky Ukulele Pop, to electronic Hip Hop & R&B. While on tour with Freelance Whales in 2011, Doris picked up the only instrument she knew would fit in her purse, the ukulele, and wrote a batch of quirky love songs which she would later record on her roof (when she returned home from tour.) In January of 2012, Doris released the songs to the public as her first full-length album which she entitled “Up on the Roof”. Shortly after its release Doris put out a three song EP called “Windows” which features some of her more electronic style compositions. As Doris continues to write and record for her solo project be sure to follow her on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook to get the latest info on her next endeavor.
