The Hester is a monthly supper club with a makeshift stage, located in one of Brooklyn’s oldest and most charming neighborhoods. It was founded by Itta Werdiger-Roth, a New York-based profesional cook, and is currently run by Kate Hester (an alias) and the rest of the Hester Club. The address is only available after registering for an event.
At its 2011 launch, The Hester was flooded with over 100 guests who were eager to sample the tasty menu and hear the wonderful new music. Since then it has been regularly well-attended and continues to flourish as a space for both The Hester’s performers and its patrons. The Hester is an “off the grid” venue for all kinds of musicians, singers, storytellers and poets (many of whom are Jewish) to connect with a mostly Jewish audience. The Hester is about creating a nouveau Jewish experience and hopefully one day, a community.
